COVID-19 VACCINATIONS OFFERED IN OFFICE

February 2023:

Clinics for COVID-19 (Bivalent) Boosters are now being scheduled!

If your child is 6 months through 5 years old and completed their primary series of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines at least 2 months ago, your child is eligible for the booster. We offer boosters for this age group in the office.

If your child is 6 months through 5 years old and has not received their primary series, we do offer primary dose appointments in our office.  We offer the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine for all patients between the ages of 6 months to 5 years of age (dose 2 must be given before 6th birthday) in the office. These vaccines are only offered through our COVID-19 clinics; not during well visits.

Please call the office to schedule.  Families will need to wait in the waiting room or in the parking lot for 15 minutes after vaccine administration. Please plan accordingly!

If our clinic times and availability are not convenient for your family, please check the links below for additional vaccine clinic locations in the area.

August 16, 2022COVID BOOSTER RECOMMENDED FOR ALL CHILDREN 5 YEARS            AND OLDER.

We have had a number of questions this month regarding boosters for kids ages 5 years and up.

Booster shots are recommended for all children 5 years of age and older in order for a child to be considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In order to be eligible for the booster shot, your child must be at least five months out from their last COVID-19 vaccine. We encourage everyone to be fully vaccinated before school starts. Booster shots are not yet available in our office for patients 6 years and older, but please check the links below for other locations in addition to local pharmacies.

June 21, 2022: We are excited to share that both the FDA and the CDC have authorized Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for younger children. Moderna is being released as a 2-dose vaccine approved for children ages 6 months through 5 years of age. The Moderna vaccines are to be given 4 weeks apart. The Pfizer vaccine is a 3-dose vaccine for children 6 months through 4 years (5 year old and up Pfizer vaccine is already widely available). The first two Pfizer vaccines will be separated by three weeks, and the third dose will be given 8 weeks after the second dose. The most common side effects reported for these vaccines include fever, local injection-site pain, and fatigue. These are short-lived and in line with other vaccines our kids receive. We do believe that both Pfizer and Moderna are both good options for added protection against Covid19.

The doctors at DuPage Pediatrics are relieved that our younger patients will now have access to added vaccine protection against Covid-19.

Children 3 years and older will be able to receive their vaccines at any of the available clinics, but also at pharmacies such as Walgreens, CVS, and Target. As we learn of clinics that are able to vaccinate our 6 months to 2 years 11 month children we will be linking them to this website. At this time, we are aware that Lurie Children's Hospital and Edward-Elmhurst in Downers Grove on Butterfield has appointments available for our younger patients for vaccines.

If your child has had a Covid-19 infection in the past, it is still recommended to vaccinate to help enhance immunity. Covid-19 vaccination can take place as long as a child is not actively in isolation (a.k.a. there is no recommendation to wait 90 days from your last infection).

Please continue to check this website for the most up to date information before calling the office with questions.  This will help keep phone lines open for kids who need medical care and office appointments.

Below is a list of places in the community that are scheduling vaccine clinics.  We will try to update this information as it becomes available.
